I am honored to host an award night for the freshmen students of African Origin for their academic achievement for year 2011. It gives me an opportunity to thank our community for their interest in education. Every graduate today stands as a good example to the youth of Africa.
I was fortunate to have attended Old Western Boys High School and earn a degree from ST. John Boscos College. However, many of our youth are unable to follow their vision or dream for lack of opportunities available in Africa. People cannot realize dreams for many reasons, like lack of funding, proper guidance, good health, poor infra structure in educational institutions to name a few. I have been contributing for sometime to help the youth and children in Africa in bulding infra-stucture for them- but alone it is a task that cannot be realized!
We, who are more privileged have the ability to give our brothers and sisters a hand and strive together to bring some awareness of a better life for them and show them how to do it at a very nominal price. It is not going to be a burden for us to share with our youth a little of what we have for a cause that is so rewarding and noble.
There are programs who are bringing help to our youth in Africa that are focused on social aid and hygiene as we all know. However, to enhance the overall living standard, my focus is on education because only education will bring and train our youth for tomorrow and give them the platform to compete with rest of the world.
